January Sale for the 2013 Walking Wool Wall Calendar

It was a terrific first holiday season for Walking Wool and my products. Stores in several New England states took calendar orders, some handspun handyed yarns, notecards, and large framed photographs. Terrific feedback from etsy customers, and new fiber contacts made a festivals and other fall events. Now, there's just a few (12 or so) wall calendars left, so I've slashed the price to $16.95, plus $3.00 shipping. Soon, it will be time to start laying out the 2014 version. Will there be new festivals to include? Will I get to snap some winter sheep scenes without my hands freezing and my lens fogging? We hope so.

Nothing short of . . . WOW

Check out lil Fish Studios and do it now.

Thank You Sage Yarn in Falmouth MA

Just in time for holiday giving, I delivered a variety of Walking Wool wares to Sage Yarn in Falmouth MA. Owner Jen Heinlein was so enthusiastic . . . she took a little of everything. And, shortly thereafter my spinning friend Betsy dropped by the shop and took these photos of the wares on display. So nice to see them out in  public and curious for the feedback.

Multiple meanings . . . hardly a surprise

Fulling - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you look up Walking Wool, my studio, you will find a Google link to a wikipedia site that talks about fulling. Fulling is also known as walking. Hah.

Per the link,
"Fulling or tucking or walking ("waulking" in Scotland) is a step in woolen cloth making which involves the cleansing of cloth (particularly wool) to eliminate oils, dirt, and other impurities, and making it thicker. The worker who does the job is a fullertucker, or walker.[1] The Welsh word for a fulling mill is pandy, which appears in many place-names."

I am inching my way to one day soon taking a class with this incredible talent. She's teaching again next month at Halcyon Yarn in Bath ME. Definitely one of my "musts" for 2013.

Thank you to CEY for their fairly regular gifts of free and fun knit and crochet patterns, always presented on sweet models who look like real people! This crochet hat will be on my "to try" list for the coming weeks. Quick and easy it looks, and a good way to hone my new-ish (since the summer) crochet skills.
